How do you get people to reconnect with their Scottish roots? Have a reunion, or in this case, a Homecoming. Homecoming Scotland was a year-long celebration of all things Scottish, with hundreds of events held all over the country—inspired by the 250th birthday of Robert Burns.

As with most advertising campaigns in 2009, Scotland's budget was severely cut, but they still needed to promote a huge effort that had been in the works for years. Always up for a challenge, we decided to spice up their existing photo library with some creative takes on stock imagery. The result was a hugely successful campaign, for minimum cost.

Severly over-used stock photos finally get some new life breathed into them when we created this animation piece using only still images and a bunch of talent. Additional credits: Take Yasui (animator); Pete Slife (editor); Red Hot Chili Pipers (music)

The print ads played with the idea that many people who don't live in Scotland, or even look Scottish, have Scottish heritage. We shot the models, but then had to place them in already existing images from Scotland's library.
